Our Town Cummins, Village

Need a quiet place to focus on homework or study? Join Liz at the Village for Youth Hotdesks (ie homework club), running every Monday during the school term.

Open to all high school students, this is a dedicated space for getting work done with access to desks, stationery, supervision, and maybe even a snack or two! You’ll need to bring your own device if required, but we’ve got everything else covered.

Come along and make the most of a supportive study environment!

In 2025, the concept of a Youth Microgrants pilot program transformed from an idea into a reality. Our vision is to engage young people and equip them with the skills to become the changemakers and leaders of tomorrow, shaping the future of Cummins. The Microgrants program is now live, and we are excited to support youth (aged 12–25years) who have innovative ideas that promote community wellbeing.

Youth Microgrants

Get to Know Our Teens" is a youth-led initiative in our community where teenagers choose from a set of thought-provoking questions to answer and explore. The goal is to bridge the gap between generations in Cummins by encouraging young people to ask meaningful questions to the adults in our community—on any topic they’re curious about. It’s inspiring to see our teens express themselves with such depth and thoughtfulness through this project.

Off the Rack

Youth Activated Projects

A bunch of our awesome local youth have teamed up with the Cummins Op Shop to whip up something special: 'Off the Rack' clothing! They noticed that getting to the Op Shop was a bit of a mission with the opening hours clashing with school and bus times. So, they took matters into their own hands—this project is run by the teens, for the teens, making it all about inclusion and sustainable fashion.

The best part? It’s completely free! and better for the environment! You’ll find the rack set up in the open area at school, making it super easy for all students to pop by and nab some threads.

Movie Nights

The youth have spoken, and boy, did they have fun with this one. They’ve been craving more chances to hang out outside of the schoolyard, and that sparked a whirlwind of discussions about what Cummins should have on offer. So, a crew of our young people took it upon themselves and organised a movie night. Fast forward, and it’s now an annual event, with the youth steering the ship. Our Town is the perfect playground to unleash their creative ideas in a warm, welcoming space. Got some ideas to make Cummins even cooler for our young legends? Don’t be shy — reach out and let’s sprinkle some fun into our town’s culture!

Linking up to the creative arts

Do you have a young person keen on the creative arts? The Riverland Youth Theatre holds a weekly virtual hangout space via Discord each Wednesday evening, for regional South Aussie youth who have a keen interest in the Creative Arts and we have a crew of Cummins creative kids who

Each term will have a different focus.
